Description: A view of the Irving Dam powerhouse in Irving, Michigan on the Thornapple River. This image is from the south side of the power canal, of the power house. Note the overhead crane that can move the control panels, at left in the image, to block the intakes completely, to allow for maintenance of the turbine. This dam is operated by Commonwealth Power. The powerhouse is labeled P in the diagram at right.
