Description: This image depicts a single chain of silica tetrahedra in the structure of a pyroxene mineral, viewed in the [010] direction. The apical oxygen ions are a top and the tetrahedra bases at bottom. The silicon ions are just visible as small black spheres in the center of the further tetraheda; the view of the silicon ion is blocked by an oxygen ion in the near tetrahedra.
