Description: The Hulme Locks Branch Canalin Castlefield was built in 1839 to connect the River Irwell with the Bridgewater Canal. It joined Irwell at the confluence with the River Medlock. It was closed in 1995 when new link was concstructed at Pomona Docks. From the Irwell. We see the Medlock on the left and the Hulme Locks.
