Description: Hetch Hetchy Valley c. 1914 — as it appeared before it was submerged under a reservoir in 1923. Located in Yosemite National Park, California. Although only half as long and wide as Yosemite Valley, Hetch Hetchy bears a strong resemblance to it in general form. It also has similar granite cliff formations, such as one resembling El Capitan on the left, and Kolana Rock on the right. Credits Plate 5-B, U.S. Geological Survey Professional paper 160.
