Description: Main building of the former barracks in Bad Hersfeld (Hohe Luft). Built as barracks for the a motor vehicles unit of the Wehrmacht in 1935. Between 1948 and 1993 it was the McPheeters barracks of the United States Army. Here served the 3rd Squadron, 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment (1948 until 1972) and the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (1972 until 1993) at the inner German border. Today there is a customs office in this building.
