Description: Hellen Bambridge (1852–1918), daughter of Thomas Bambridge, a British settler, and Maraea O'Connor, daughter of an Irishman and a member of the raʻatira class. The Bambridge family had no ariʻi or royal descent in their lineage. The daughters of this prominent family were known for Bambridge beauty; her older sister Suzanne was a model of Paul Gauguin. On the back of the photo is a little portrait of John Bright, a British politician.
