Description: H. M. Beach photo of the Hedges, Blue Mountain Lake, NY. Built in 1880 by Hiram B. Duryea, a brigadier general of the US Reserves, in the style of what is now called the Adirondack Great Camp - a main lodge with 20 some out-buildings. The Hedges was operated as a private home, then a well-known lodge for tourists in the 1950s and 60s. Since 2000 it has been restored and preserved for future generations, again open for overnight visitors.
