Description: Monogram of Elizabeth Talbot, Countess of Shrewsbury (Bess of Hardwick), on the towers of Hardwick Hall. Hardwick Hall, which had six such towers, was a classic example of an Elizabethan Prodigy house (a house where wealth was flaunted to impress the monarch).
