Description: Gypsy moth caterpillar (Lymantria dispar dispar) found dead on the bark of a tree. When these caterpillars are killed by viruses, they are often hanging in a 'V' shape with their heads and hind parts pointing toward the ground. There will generally be multiple caterpillars in the same area killed by the same virus.
