Description: Green Island on Lough Gill with Kilkenny Mountain beyond This is one of about twenty small islands on beautiful Lough Gill. This view is across Aghamore Bay at the south-west corner of the Lough. It is a freshwater lake which lies to the south-east of Sligo Town and is about six miles long from west to east and two miles broad at its widest. Towards the east end of the lough on the southern side is ‘the Isle of Innisfree’, made famous by WB Yeats’ poem.
