Image: Great Refractor Potsdam
Description: The Great Refractor of the Astrophysical Observatory Potsdam (AOP), Germany, was finished in 1899. It consists of two refracting telescopes in a common tube: a photographic instrument with an aperture of 80 cm and a focal length of 12.2 m, and a visual telescope with an aperture of 50 cm and focal length of 12.5 m. The Optics were made by Steinheil (Munich) the mechanics by Repsold (Hamburg). The telescope and it's dome were renovated in 1986-2005.
