Image: Gainsborough Old Hall - west wing and great hall
Description: This view shows the west wing on the left, the great hall in the centre, and the staircase gallery on the right. Originally the west wing was designed as lodgings for family members and visitors, and built as four separate suites not linked to the Great Hall. Today the Old Hall is entered via the west wing (the door is at the south end of the wing (out of sight behind the display board), and the ground floor contains the information desk and gift shop. The upper floor contains the exhibition galleries.
