Description: The Port Jervis Free Library at 138 Pike Street was organized in 1892, the first in New York State under the Free Library of that year. Andrew Carnegie contributed $30,000 for the construction of a building for the library, which was completed in 1903 and was designed by W. S. Ackerman of Ackerman and Ross.
