Description: This is the former Balsam School at Balsam, North Carolina. The four-room brick building was constructed in 1940 after the previous wooden schoolhouse burned down, and remained in use until Scotts Creek Elementary School opened in 1951. After it closed, the building was converted for usage as the Balsam Community Center.
