Description: The current flag of the city of Frankfort, KY, USA which was designed in 1959 by a committee led by Mrs. Ermina Jett Darnell. In the left upper corner is a bust of Daniel Boone. In the right upper corner is a bust of a Boy Scout honoring Frankfort Troop 1 which was one of the first Boy Scout troops in the United States. The center emblem has goldenrod leaves partially encircling the words Frankfort (top) and Kentucky (bottom). The S-curve of the Kentucky River in Frankfort bisects a circle which contains a line drawing of the Old State Capitol at the top and the current Kentucky state capitol building at the bottom. A grey star at the left represents the Confederate occupation of the city during the American Civil War. The blue star at the right represents the Union occupation of the city during the American Civil War. At the bottom is the number 1786 to represent the founding year of the city.
