Image: Flag Vice Admiral of the Red 1702 to 1805
Description: These are my own designs using MS Paint 2015 based upon the descriptions given in the book British flags, their early history, and their development at sea; with an account of the origin of the flag as a national device by Perrin, W. G. (William Gordon), 1874-1931 published in 1922, Chapter IV Flags of Command pp. 73-109. It is the command flag Vice Admiral of the Red squadron flown at the top of the masthead in use from 1702 to 1805. In use on board ships in the Kingdom of Great Britain then later the United Kingdom. Note: The post Admiral of the Red was not created until 1805 this flag was then adopted as the command flag for the Admiral of the Red and a new Vice Admiral of Red command flag was created that remained in use till 1864.
