Description: German 'newspaper' (Newe Zeyttung) describing a Japanese "embassy" organized by the Society of Jesus. Title: 'Newe Zeyttung auss der Insel Japonien'. The Japanese members were carefully selected sons of Japanese noblemen: (top, from left to right) Julião Nakaura, Father Mesquita, Mancio Ito, (bottom) Martinão Hara, Miguel Chijiwa. This paper was printed in Augsburg (Germany) in 1586 shortly after the 'embassy' stayed in Milano. The highlight of their journey through catholic Europe was an audience in Rome.
