Description: THE DISTRICT WAS FORMED IN 1918 AND AN UPSCALE RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT FOR MAINLY MANAGING PERSONNEL AT THE NEARBY SHIPYARDS. THE CENTER IS YORKSHIP SQUARE AND ALL THE ROADS RADIATE FROM THIS SITE. IN THE CENTER IS A MEMORIAL TO SERVICEMENT AND THE BUILDINGS RANGED AROUND THE SQUARE HAVE A PLEASING SOMEWHAT COLONIAL APPEARANCE
