Description: Original five step lock structure on the en:Erie Canal now used as a cascade for excess water. A similar lock structure to the left has been replaced with a 40 foot wide single step lock lifting 60 feet. This was the most complex lock structure on the canal, located where it crosses the en:Niagara Escarpment, the same geological structure that created the en:Niagara Falls.
