Image: Endometrial stromal condensation high mag
Description: High magnification micrograph of endometrial stromal condensation. Endometrial biopsy. H&E stain. Stromal condensation is a feature of menstruation. It may mimic a small blue round cell tumour. Description: Condensed endometrial stroma is seen on the right and non-condensed endometrial stroma on the upper-left. Columnar endocervical epithelial, with an abundant light-pink cytoplasm, is seen centrally and adjacent to pale endocervical mucus. Endocervical cells are a common finding on endometrial biopsies, as the physician obtaining the tissue sample invariably scrapes some off in the process of accessing the uterine cavity.
