Description: Limestone in the Devonian of Ohio, USA. Limestone is the third most common sedimentary rock on Earth. It is a biogenic sedimentary rock composed of calcium carbonate in the form of calcite (CaCO3) and sometimes aragonite (also CaCO3). Numerous named varieties of limestone exist. Many limestones are gray-colored with visible fossils and fossil fragments. Stratigraphy: Dundee Limestone, Middle Devonian Locality: old quarry at "Fossil Park" (= Medusa North-North Quarry), just southwest of Centennial Quarry, north of Brint Road & west of Centennial Road, western side of the town of Sylvania, northwestern Lucas County, northwestern Ohio, USA (41° 42' 46.62" North latitude, 83° 44' 53.57" West longitude)
