Description: Reconstruction of the small theropod dinosaur Dilong, with a suit of hair-like feathers. Dilong was a close relative to Tyrannosaurus rex, but was merely about 5.5 - 6 feet long, and had longer forelimbs with 3 digits. So far, Dilong is the only tyrannosauroid with evidence for feathers. Those feathers were not the type which most birds have, but they was like a kiwibirds: Simple, hollow filaments, more like the fur in mammals. See skeleton of Dilong at [1], [2] and [3]
