Description: This is a photograph of the Devil's Causeway which is located in the Flat Tops mountains and within the Flat Tops Wilderness Area of Colorado (USA). The Flat Tops range is a high basalt-capped plateau portions of which were eroded away by tertiary glacial activity creating valleys. At the Causeway this geological process resulted in a narrow "neck" connecting large areas of the plateau. A hiking trail crosses the Causeway which is only a few feet wide at one point, making for an exciting experience given the steep drops to the valleys on either side.
