Description: Carl Lepsius' drawing of a Coptic inscription discovered on the Dendur temple. Dating to the mid-6th century (Grzegorz Ochala 2011: "The Date of the Dendur Foundation Inscription Reconsidered" in "The Bulletin of the American Society of Papyrologists". Volume 48. pp. 217-224.), the inscription is about how the Nobatian king Eirpanome and people of his court had the temple converted into a church. According to Siegfried Richter, it is the first official Christian document from Nubia.(Siegfried Richter 2013: "The Beginnings of Christianity in Nubia" in "Christianity and Monasticism in Aswan and Nubia". pp. 47-54.)
