Description: The arms were last granted on January 21, 1925. They show the lion of the Palatinate and the arms of the Wittelsbach family (see also Bavaria). The city was a possession of the Wittelsbach family, who were also Counts of Palatinate. Amberg became a city at the end of the 13th century. The symbols first appear on seals of the 14th century.
