Description: The Coso Volcanic Field in the northern Mojave Desert — within the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, southern Inyo County, California. It consists of largely Pliocene to late-Pleistocene rhyolitic lava domes and basaltic cinder cones covering 400 km2—150 square miles in area. There are hot springs, a small geothermal power plant, and the ancient Coso Petroglyphs rock art within the Coso field.
