Description: Native American burial mound in the Cherokee Boulevard median in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. The plaque on the rock reads: This mound was constructed by Native Americans between A.D. 900-1100 and contains the remains of individuals who lived in nearby settlements. The mound was reduced in height due to agriculture and excavations in the early 19th Century. Another excellent example can be seen behind the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine on Neyland Drive.
