Description: This was a miniature soldier riding a horse on display at the Terracotta Warriors exhibit at San Francisco's Asian Art Museum during our visit on March 20, 2013. The information sign named this object Cavalry and horse - Warring States period 475-221 BCE - Before Common Era, Before Christ, AD After the Lord. It is a Low-fired ceramic from the Xianyang Municipal Institute of Archaeology. A further explanation states: This miniature soldier riding a horse, discovered in a military tomb, is one of the earliest finds of terracotta cavalry in China. Created nearly a century before the First Emperor's terracotta army, this figure suggests that cavalry had long been deployed by the Qin army. I shot this image with my Canon EOS 60D. The museum notice said: "Cavalry and horse, Warring State period, 475-221 BCE. Low-fired ceramic. Xianyang Institute of Archaeology Cat. No.57. This miniature soldier riding a horse, discovered in a military tomb, is one of the earliest finds of terracotta cavalry in China.
