Description: Castle Market Looking down Haymarket to the Castle Market building. Castle Market occupies the site of the Norman Sheffield Castle, which was slighted at the end of the English civil war. When this site was excavated the remains of a wooden hall was found. This was interpreted by some to be Earl Waltheof's manor in Hallam.
