Description: This Bronze four-pound cannon is from Robert de La Salle's ship La Belle. It sank during a storm in 1685, and the wreckage stayed on the seabottom for over three centuries. This is one of 3 such cannons recovered and is in the Matagorda County Museum in Bay City, Texas. (The wooden wheeled stand is a modern recreation.)
