Description: Cañihua, a native grain of the Andes of southern Peru and Bolivia, is supremely adapted to the high altitudes of the altiplano, the Andean plain that harbors Lake Titicaca. The grain is important on the high plateau of Peru and Bolivia because it has excellent protein quality (as other chenopods) and outstanding iron content.
