Description: Burning Bush sculpture, Church of Scotland Offices, 121 George Street, Edinburgh. The Latin motto "nec tamen consumebatur" translates as "Yet it was not consumed". The biblical bush seems intended to recall failed attempts to extinguish Presbyterianism in the 17th century. It was first used as a printer's device in "The Principal Acts of The [General] Assembly" published in 1691.
