Description: Bridge at Pontrhydyfen. This old narrow bridge, today part of a pedestrian and cyclist trail, is a former aqueduct completed in 1825 to bring water to power the waterwheels of the Cwmavon ironworks. The road crosses the River Afan lower down on the valley floor. This is the eastern of two high-level bridges at the village: the other being a former railway viaduct.
