View eastwards, towards Barnard Castle; ex-NER Stainmore Line, (Darlington) - Barnard Castle - Kirkby Stephen etc. This station and the whole line was closed 22/1/62. The track-bed through Bowes is now under the dual-track A66 road and still renowned for the bad weather in winter.
