Description: seal of Bouchard I de Marly (d. 1226), recorded on a charter of the Abbey of St. Victor, dated 1225. This image is from a piece of paper attached to a watercolor of a depiction of Bouchard in a stained glass window at Chartres (the watercolor is dated to the 17th century, the printed piece of paper may be younger)[1]. A better drawing of this seal is found in MAQUET (Adrien), Les seigneurs de Marly, recherches historiques et archéologiques sur la ville et seigneurie de Marly-le-Roi avec notes, armoiries et sceaux... préface de Victorien Sardou. Paris, Imprimerie et librairie universelle, 1882. [2]. The single eagle (or "alerion") in a circle is shown on the back of the seal.
