Description: First description of the Bohr effect, upon which pH affects binding of oxygen by hemoglobin. This is also one of the first example of cooperative binding. X-axis: oxygen partial pressure in mmHg, y-axis % oxy-hemoglobin. The measurements were made with freshly obtained dog blood, except for the top curve, which represents horse blood.
