Image: Billy Bowlegs (Holata Micco, "Alligator Chief")
Description: Billy Bowlegs (Holata Micco, "Alligator Chief"), Seminole chieftain, in a hand-coloured lithograph. Dimensions: Image: 22.1 × 11.9 cm (8 11/16 × 4 11/16") Sheet: 26.6 × 17.5 cm (10 1/2 × 6 7/8") As cropped, this is slightly smaller than the sheet in order to centre the text horizontally. (In bookbinding, you don't centre your image on the page because you need a gutter on one side to allow it to be bound into the spine of the book, which is not something you want to maintain for uses anywhere else.) See the original. If it helps. by my calculations, cropping it as exactly to the sheet as I can manage then dividing by the height and width given this is somewhere around 536 dpi (211 pixels per centimetre), possibly 537.
