Description: Benskins Brewery building, High St, Watford. Now the Watford Museum. Built 1775 as the home of Edmund Dawson. Later, it passed to John Dyson and then to Joseph Benskin. At first the Benskin family lived there but from 1868 the house became the Company’s head office and it continued to be brewery offices until the entire site was bought by Watford Council in 1975. The house now accommodates Watford Museum which opened in 1981.
