Description: The cemetery is located behind the Basket Creek Baptist Church and consists of two sections, one holding Blacks (slaves and church members) and one holding Whites and one Native American. This photo is of the Black section. Note that the custom from Africa was to routinely heap the soil over the graves of the deceased and this custom has been carried forward at this cemetery.
