Image: Banner of Möngke Temür (1257-1280)

Description: This banner reflected the Mongol and Islamic traditions within the horde. The tamga reflected Mongol horsemanship, while the crescent star represented desires to spread the Islamic faith. It was adopted sometime during 1267-1280, during the reign of Möngke Temür. Source: Lux-Wurm, P. C., & Zaragoza, Martha. (2001). Les drapeaux de l’islam : de Mahomet à nos jours. Buchet-Chastel. P.120. Note the light grey line surrounding the banner is not part of it, that was added to make the banner visible on the white background of Wikipedia. The date on the file is wrong from a typo, it should be 1267-1280.
