Description: Image of promissory note dated April 10 1872, w/ three revenue stamps from the first three series respectively First Issue revenue stamps remained valid after the Second and Third Issues were produced, and this promissory note is franked with an example of each. The amount of the three stamps combined pay the $2.25 tax duty of five cents per hundred dollars on a $4,500 promissory note, was the rate in 1872.
