Description: 1917 British Mark IV tank (female) on display in Ashford, Kent, England. The tank was presented to the people of Ashford on August 1, 1919 by captain Walter Farrar MC, F Battallion Tank Corps in recognition of their splendid response to the national war savings appeal. N0 245 was de-activated by the removal of the rear drive and has the distinction of being the only surviving tank in situ on public display. A protective canopy was built over the tank in 1987. It is now registered as a War Memorial.
