Description: Ashburnham Chapel at Ponts Green The datestone over the doorway states '1964 Ashburnham Chapel' but the quality of the brickwork looks late Victorian even if the roof appears consistent with the (refurbishment?) date. A noticeboard shows this is still used by the United Reformed Church. The building was constructed in the late 19th century as 'the Reading Rooms', a local amenity provided by Lord Ashburnham. It became a Congregational chapel in the 1960's following the closure of Barn Chapel (in the next square to the north).
