Description: An illustration for a 1470 copy of the 13th-century French chivalric romance La Mort du roi Arthur. How King Arthur was accommodated by his sister Morgan le Fay who showed him the room where Lancelot had painted the beginnings of his relationship with Queen Guinevere.

Lost in the woods, King Arthur finds refuge for the night in the wonderful palace of his sister Morgan. He then discovers the paintings made by Lancelot during his captivity there. Using the images and inscriptions that accompany them, Arthur reviews Lancelot's first chivalrous exploits and discovers his relationship with Queen Guinevere. Morgae explains to him how Galehaut favored the bringing together of lovers and how Lancelot made these frescoes. She encourages Arthur to take vengeance on lovers once he has caught them in flagrante delicto.
