Description: The rear of Arriva Guildford & West Surrey 6402 (GN04 UDP), a Volvo B7TL/TransBus ALX400, in Guildford Friary bus station, Guildford, Surrey, on route 4. Two B7TLs, 6402 and 6403, arrived at Guildford at the end of August 2009, to displace the step entrance Dennis Dominators (5214 and 5215). 6402 is seen in its first week of service at Guildford here. It was almost immediately sent for repaint into the interurban livery (which Arriva had decided should become the new group-wide livery at the time), so photos of 6402 in service at Guildford in its original livery are quite rare. 6402 and 6403 were new to Gillingham depot - in the Arriva Medway Towns part of Arriva Southern Counties - in 2004, as part of "Operation Overdrive", where a large batch of buses were purchased to upgrade the fleet in one go. Arriva stopped running on route 4 from 23 May 2010, after Arriva and Safeguard came to agreement to stop joint operation of town routes, with each operator getting complete control of certain routes, and stopping running on others.
