Description: Alfred Johnson landed here The first person to make the single-handed Atlantic crossing in 1876, Alfred Johnson, a Danish-born fisherman from Gloucester Massachusetts, landed here after 66 days at sea in a dory named 'Centennial' in celebration of the first centennial of the United States.
