Description: Alastair McDonald, 13th of Glengarry served as the commander of the Clan MacDonell of Glengarry in the Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689 during the early Jacobite risings. McDonald was the grandfather of Angus McDonald (1727–1778), a prominent Scottish American military officer, frontiersman, sheriff and landowner in the U.S. state of Virginia.
