Description: Aerial view of Māngere East, 28 June 1949. The shot was taken looking along Massey Road towards the south-west. Rosella Road, Miami Street, Gray Avenue, Viola Avenue, Hain Avenue and Buckland Road lead off Massey Road successively to the left; Ewart Road, Vine Street, Tennessee Avenue, Ferguson Street and Yates Road lead off it to the right. The buildings of what was formerly Camp Euart, a World War II United States military base, and the associated military depot, are in the centre foreground. The Ōtāhuhu railway workshops are at the bottom right. Since Camp Euart was named after the American naval officer, Captain Elwood Euart, 'Ewart Road' probably represents a misspelling.
