Description: The statue inside of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. is rare in that it shows Mr. Lincoln sitting instead of standing as most statues do. I believe this is symbolic of his patient yet strong character that led the United States through the Civil War from 1861-1865. His hand is clinched signifying strength and resolve.
