Description: The Italianate-style, eleven-unit Juniper House condominium, (foreground) located at 531 T Street, N.W., in the LeDroit Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C. A Second Empire-style house, located at 525 T Street, N.W., is visible in the background. Built in 1877 (531 T Street) and 1873 (525 T Street) to the designs of architect James H. McGill, the T Street (historically known as Maple Avenue) buildings are designated as contributing properties to the LeDroit Park Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. The restored buildings are two of the fifty McGill-designed homes (out of the sixty-four originally built) remaining in the historic district. Previous occupants of 531 T Street, N.W., (also known as 1901 6th Street, N.W.; historically known as 1901 Juniper Street, N.W.) include: Stanley Finch, the first director of the Bureau of Investigation (now known as the FBI); and Morning Star Baptist Church (est. 1907) from 1962 until 2004.
